Description

Process Technician/Operator

The function of this job is to operate and troubleshoot the Carbon Dioxide Plant in a safe and efficient manner as described in various procedures, processes, and regulatory requirements. Utilizing process knowledge, the process technician works in a team environment where individuals are empowered to set priorities and complete different activities with minimal supervision. Successful candidates must be able to work 12 hour shifts with ‘on-call’ requirements.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Implementation of operational discipline, principles, procedures, and practices to ensure the safe and efficient operation of plant processes and equipment.
  • Operation, monitoring and inspection of process equipment and conditions.
  • Interfacing with various electronic, pneumatic and PLC based control systems during start-up, analysis and continual operation of plant processes and equipment.
  • Use of troubleshooting skills to recognize and resolve process related deviations and problems.
  • Performing necessary repairs and assistance during plant turnarounds, equipment upgrades, refurbishments, and preventative maintenance.
  • Use of process knowledge and skills towards productivity improvements and equipment reliability.
  • Professional communication between contractors, visitors, customers, colleagues, and management.
  • Support Dry Ice operations as required.

Qualifications
Job Related Qualifications:

  • TSSA Refrigeration Operator A/B Certification, or TSSA 3rd Class Operating Engineer Certification.
  • 313A HVAC or 433A Millwright or Instrumentation/Electrical is considered an asset,
  • Previous experience in a 24/7/365 process operations role.
  • Motivated, self-starter capable of effectively managing multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Ability to read and interpret various drawings such as: P&IDs and SWDs.
  • Must have good computer and technical skills to learn how to operate both manual and highly automated process equipment
  • Must have the ability to recognize, understand, analyze, and resolve technical problems.
  • Must be able to work overtime as required
  • Must have strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Must have a current and valid driver’s license
  • Must be able to meet the physical demands of the job:
    • Ability to lift 25kg
    • Climb stairs and ladders
    • Work in tight and closed spaces
    • Ability to wear all required personal protective equipment
