Cougar Helicopters Inc. currently has an opportunity for a full-time permanent Computer/Network Support Specialist.

General Job Definition:

The Computer/Network Support Specialist will monitor and help maintain the health and stability of our IT hardware and network. This includes software updates, hardware updates, user training, network administration, and trouble shooting software/hardware/network issues. Must be familiar with a variety of the field concepts, practices, and procedures and also rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

Key Job Responsibilities:

Computer Support:

  • Provide technical assistance, support, and advice to employees;
  • Investigate problems and provide technical support for hardware, software, and systems;
  • Oversee the daily performance of the computer systems and evaluate software programs with regard to their usefulness;
  • Install, maintain and repair all computer software on hardware;
  • Manage all mobile devices including onsite support, maintenance, replacing, updating and purchasing of devices;
  • Monitor Helpdesk Support ticketing system and respond to tickets in a timely fashion;
  • Field telephone calls and e-mail messages from employees who are seeking guidance on technical problems; and
  • Other duties as required by the Human Resources Manager.

Network Support:

Assist the Network Administrator with monitoring and maintaining the health and stability of our network environment. This includes assisting with:

  • Maintaining and configuring network related hardware/software (VPN, Firewall, routers, switches, WAPS);
  • Monitoring data flow;
  • Managing bottlenecks;
  • Network security;
  • Server maintenance and monitoring;
  • Managing the backup and disaster recovery procedures;
  • Administration and maintenance of mail server and create profiles, groups and contact lists;
  • Windows domain management including active directory, certificate authority, domain name system, dynamic host communication protocol, network protection server, internet information server, Windows server update services, and group policies;
  • Configuring content filtering, intrusion prevention and client/network antivirus;
  • WAP Configuration;
  • Configuring static addressing for the multifunction copiers; and
  • Other duties as required by the Human Resources Manager.

Safety and Quality Responsibilities:

  • Practice, actively promote and monitor workplace safety;
  • Be familiar with and comply with the Cougar SMS and HSE policies and procedures;
  • Be responsible for knowing, understanding and complying with the workplace requirements for the Cougar’s day-to-day operations and asking for assistance when they are unclear about a workplace process to complete a job task safely;
  • Report hazards: If an employee encounters an unsafe or harmful condition or situation or if they are unclear if a task is safe, the employee is responsible to report this immediately to their supervisor or through the Cougar Safety Hazard Observation Program (S.H.O.P.); and
  • Wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE).

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Relevant diploma/degree in the field of computer science or information technology from an accredited post-secondary institution;
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant work experience in an IT systems and network support role;
  • 3+ years of customer-facing support;
  • Excellent working knowledge of modern IT infrastructure and desktop and network environments;
  • Hands-on experience and demonstrated knowledge of backup & disaster recovery initiatives; and
  • Must qualify for an Airport Security pass.
